Congregational Life

Beginning on January 29th, 2008 at 7:00 pm, there will be a gathering in the Sanctuary which we are calling “Congregational Life.” These gatherings will be held whenever there is a 5th Tuesday in a month. The purpose of the gatherings is to update congregation members on what is happening in our parish. “Congregational Life” gatherings are open for all members of St. John’s, and we encourage you to attend. If you have any questions or concerns, they can be addressed at this meeting.

St. John’s Consistory has relocated the mailboxes in order to create and promote more effective communication within the church. All mailboxes are centralized on the second floor next to the Choir room. The Scouting mailboxes are located on the lower level in the Christian Ed. hallway.

All Are Welcome

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Shelter an Angel

Help us, once again, to bring the heavenly angels to St. John’s this year. We will be supporting the ministry of Turning Point of Lehigh Valley by purchasing angels during their “Shelter an Angel” campaign. These paper angels will help to decorate our sanctuary during the Advent season. You may purchase an angel for $1.00 or $ 5.00 and, not only decorate our church but also help an abused or battered child. We will also have a limited number of Angel lapel pins for $5.00. All funds raised by this campaign will benefit the littlest victims of domestic violence; the children who are in shelter at Turning Point. The angels will be on sale after both the 8:00 and 10:30 services during the month of November.

Turning Point is a safe place where victims of abuse and their children can find refuge. The location of shelters and the identity of clients are confidential. All services are provided without regard to race, income, sex, sexual preference, age, handicap, ethnicity or religion.

Turning Point offers:
* 24 hour hotline
* Emergency shelter
* Individual and group counseling
* Court accompaniment
* Children’s program
* Training for police and members of the community

Let’s cover the back of our sanctuary with angels this season so that Tuning Point can assist these children to not only have a more joyous Christmas, but also a new beginning – free of the violence and abuse they have already endured.
